Evaluation of a Subset of Ethiopia Sorghum Collection Germplasm from the National Genetic Resources Program of the United States Department of Agriculture for Anthracnose Resistance

Globally, one of the most devastating diseases sorghum is anthracnose incited by Colletotrichum sublineola. During 2019 and 2020 growing seasons, 94 64 accessions from Ethiopian germplasm collection maintained National Genetic Resources Program United States Department Agriculture were evaluated for resistance. Seeds planted in 1.8 m rows with 0.9 row spacing a randomized complete block design. The checks replicated three times 30 days after planting, inoculated placing C. sublineola-colonized grains plant whorls. A total accessions, including PI533918, PI533923, PI534131 PI534151 resistant to disease both years. These identified sources can be used breeding programs develop anthracnose-resistant lines hybrids.
